Environmental Markets

Compliance Markets are formed when a state passes a Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS). States with RPS programs mandate that retail power suppliers acquire set percentages of the electricity they sell from renewable resources of qualified technologies. Many states across the country have legislated some form of renewable portfolio standard.  IVG specializes in states that make up the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) and the compliance markets that support them.

In general, IVG helps generators augment the value of their projects and assists buyers in proficiently locating the supply of WECC RPS products.  By doing so, we cover all phases of the renewable energy development cycle, from structuring bundled (energy + REC) sale agreements through power purchase agreements to unbundled sales of renewable energy certificates.

Our WECC environmental markets team has the knowledge, personnel, and capability to structure a variety of transactions in the WECC compliance markets. In order to meet the varying needs of our clients, IVG has established strong relationships with project owners, developers and electrical load serving entities with a presence in the WECC footprint.

Specifically, we provide both transactional and consulting services in the WECC compliance markets for wholesale renewable energy and renewable energy credits.  While leaning on our roots and unparalleled experience in the WECC, we deliver services tailored to specific transactions and incorporate both pricing and policy assessments for our clients.  As brokers who understand the WECC regulatory foundation, we tailor our services to your specific needs and deliver a “know your customer” approach to every transaction.
